ASK YOUR KID
What did Jesus ask us to do?
PARENT BIBLE STUDY
Read: Luke 24:36-49, Acts 1:4-11
Where is Jesus? The answer is far from concrete or simple. He is in heaven. He is in your heart. He is with you. He is with God. He is here now. He is coming back someday.
The physical presence of Jesus on earth came to an end in these passages from Scripture. Jesus left like he came – miraculously and humbly. As his disciples watched, Jesus was simply “taken up” into the sky, promising that he would be back. And that was it. No fire. No parade. No celebration. No pomp and circumstance as the risen Savior returned to sit down at the right hand of God.
Before Jesus left, he called his disciples to a huge task – to spread his word, to make disciples of all nations, to baptize them, and to teach them to obey everything he commanded them (Matthew 28:16-20). But Jesus didn’t just command them and leave. He also gave them a promise that although he was going away physically, he was also always with them. He promised them the power of Holy Spirit, which would literally be his presence living inside them.
Perhaps the question, “where is Jesus?” is more complicated than the answer. He is everywhere. He is closer than the air we breathe. With his Spirit living inside his believers here on earth, his power is always available to us, even though he is no longer here in bodily form. We aren’t left to just stand staring up into the sky waiting for Jesus to return. Instead, we are commanded, like the disciples were that day over 2,000 years ago, to let God use us to show the whole world what Jesus is really like and what it looks like to follow him.
What would you say if someone asked you where Jesus is?
How is God using you to show the world Jesus?

THE BIG PICTURE
Our Elementary curriculum is written for 1st through 5th graders. Through exciting videos, or live teaching in the rooms, kids explore stories from the Bible each month. Beginning with Creation, and moving in chronological order throughout the year, kids learn that God is our Creator, his son Jesus is our Savior, and he is loving, healing, miraculous, and personal. Kids learn about baptism, how to pray, how they can be more like Jesus, and how they can help others. In a large group format, elementary kids sing and dance to worship songs, then meet fun characters and play games that introduce them to the concept of the series. After the story, kids transition to small group activities, designed to be led by an adult. We hope elementary kids learn through interactive content, and begin to grow in their understanding of who Jesus is and how to follow him.
